Campus Community Celebrates Arnold and Myrna Speert

More than two hundred faculty and staff gathered for a festive dinner on May 19 to bid a fond farewell to President Arnold Speert and his wife Myrna.

Charley Flint, sociology, has received the Dr. Robert J. McCormack Leadership Award, presented to her for outstanding leadership as president of the New Jersey Association of Criminal Justice Educators. The award covers the term she served from 2008 to 2010. Read More

Own Grads 2010

When Christopher Ludwig graduated with a degree in psychology, his accomplishment joined together three generations of Ludwigs who have connections to William Paterson. His grandfather, Jay Ludwig, a professor of communication, is retiring after almost fifty years on campus as a professor and dean of the College of the Arts and Communication.

University Premieres New Comedy from June 3 to 13

William Paterson University will present a production of “Buick Becomes Electra or The Torrid Zone,” a new comedy by Clarksburg playwright Stanley Werse, from June 3 to 13 in the Hunziker Black Box Theatre on campus.

Nine faculty members were honored for their outstanding achievements in scholarship/creative activity, teaching, and service during the fifth annual Faculty Recognition Luncheon held on May 18 in conjunction with the University’s 187th commencement ceremonies.

Feriod Receives National Kinesiology Award

William Paterson field hockey senior Jodi Feriod (Glassboro, N.J.) was named one of 30 recipients of the American Kinesiology Association (AKA) 2010 National Scholar Award for academic excellence and leadership.

Softball Season Concludes, Pair Earn All-Region Honors

The William Paterson softball team (26-15-1, 11-7 NJAC) saw its season come to an end with a 4-1 loss in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Tournament. The Pioneers were led by a pair of all-region selections in juniors Lindsey Nadolny (Belford, N.J.) and Jenna Vitale (Kenilworth, N.J.).

Pioneer Golf Classic to be Held June 8

Help support Pioneer Athletics while enjoying a fun day on the links by participating in the 13th annual William Paterson Pioneer Golf Classic Tuesday, June 8, at Black Bear Golf Course in Franklin, N.J. The cost for individual golfers is $175, while the rate for foursomes is $700. Hole sponsorships are available for $100.

Karas, Mulderig Selected to Academic All-District Teams

William Paterson senior swimmer Voyta Karas (Brno, Czech Republic) was selected to the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Men’s At-Large Academic All-District 2 First Team, while junior outfielder Jillian Mulderig (Sewell, N.J.) earned a spot on the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Softball Academic All-District 2 Second Team.

Three Pioneers Earn Baseball All-NJAC Accolades

Senior designated hitter Mike Guadango (Upper Saddle River, N.J.) earned his fourth career selections to the New Jersey Athletic Conference Baseball All-First Team and the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Region Team. Sophomore outfielder Jack Montanile (Weehawken, N.J.) was named to the All-NJAC Second Team, and junior left-handed pitcher Brett Carroll (River Edge, N.J.) was an honorable-mention all-league honoree. William Paterson finished the 2010 season 16-21-1 overall and 6-12 in the NJAC.
