Cotsakos College of Business Named One of Best Business Schools by Princeton Review

William Paterson University’s AACSB-accredited Cotsakos College of Business is one of six business schools added to the Princeton Review’s 2009 edition of Best 296 Business Schools. The annual guide to graduate business schools is well known for its college rankings based on how students rate their schools.

William Paterson Offers New Master’s Degree Program in Applied Sociology

William Paterson has expanded its graduate degree programs to include a master of arts degree in applied sociology.

The new degree, which focuses on applied diagnostic skills and applied knowledge about diversity in the workplace and society, offers a practical program of studies for individuals seeking a competitive edge in a variety of professional settings, ranging from corporations to community and non-profit organizations.

Raymond Torres-Santos

Raymond Torres-Santos, dean, College of the Arts and Communication, conducted the Puerto Rico Philharmonic, the Ars Vocalis chorus, and vocal soloists on November 30, 2008 in the Theater of the National Museum of Art in Santurce, Puerto Rico. The concert program featured several of Torres-Santos’s symphonic compositions and arrangements for the concert hall and film, including 1898 Overture, Fantasia Caribeña, Danza, Bella estrella, Ni tan solo un instante, Song for Rosalind and Ensueño. In his role as conductor, Torres-Santos introduced each work within a cultural, historical and educational context. Read More

Sesame Street’s Triumphant 40 Years to be Explored by its Legendary Cast in a Unique Program at William Paterson’s Distinguished Lecturer Series on January 30, 2009

The legendary cast of Sesame Street will gather for a unique celebration of the groundbreaking children’s television show at the University’s Distinguished Lecturer Series on January 30, 2009, at 7:00 p.m. “Sesame Street at 40 – a Night of Celebration and Discovery with the Legendary Cast,” crafted for an adult audience, features cast members who have helped shape the Sesame Street neighborhood for 40 years.

Men’s Basketball (7-1) to Return to Action Dec. 29

The William Paterson men’s basketball team (7-1, 1-0 NJAC), riding a five-game winning streak, will return to action Monday, Dec. 29, at Lehman at 2:00 p.m.

Eight Pioneers Earn Football All-NJAC Honors

Freshman defensive back Doug Dudek (5-9, 170, Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Football Defensive Rookie of the Year, leading eight William Paterson selections to the all-conference teams. Junior wide receiver Joel Rivera (6-1, 190, Hoboken, N.J./Hoboken) was selected to the NJAC Offense First Team as well as the D3Football.com All-East Region Second Team.

Strawman, Valerio Lead List of Four Men’s Soccer All-Region Honorees

William Paterson men’s soccer sophomores Joe Strawman (Ringoes, N.J./Hunterdon Central) and Julian Valerio (Manalapan, N.J./Manalapan) led a list of four Pioneers selected to the 2008 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Metro Region Team, as each earned first-team honors.

William Paterson junior goalie Christina Auger (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) and senior forward Meghan Hall (Turnersville, N.J./Washington Twp.) joined an exclusive group of Pioneers, earning selections to the 2008 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-America First Team.

Women’s Basketball (8-3) to Compete in Moravian Tournament Jan. 2-3

The William Paterson women’s basketball team (8-3, 1-0 NJAC) will resume action Jan. 2-3 at the STARTERS/Moravian Winter Classic.  The Pioneers, winners of their last three games and five of their last six, will face Bridgewater State in the first round Friday, Jan. 2, at 6:00  p.m.
