Charly Flint, sociology, has received the Dr. Robert J. McCormack Leadership Award ,presented to her for outstanding leadership as president of the New Jersey Association of Criminal Justice Educators. Payton MacDonald, music, has premiered a new work, Concerto for Quintet, Orchestra and Audience. It was commissioned by Classical Jam and The Mansion at Strathmore, an arts center in Maryland. Classical Jam, a five-person chamber ensemble, performed the work for the first time on May 23 with the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras. It is an interactive work that includes the performers, the orchestra, and members of the audience who are invited onstage to participate in the performance.


Sheetal Ranjan, sociology, has been appointed to the Human Services Advisory Council of Bergen County for a three-year term.

More than fifty original prints made by the University’s printmaking faculty and students will be on display at the Riverdale Art Center until June 27. The exhibit, “Printmaking for William Paterson University,” will showcase a broad range of printmaking media. Works shown were created using both oil- and water-based inks. Prints were made using various techniques including etching, lithography, linocuts, silkscreen and blue film etching. The event is sponsored by the University’s Department of Art, and the Center for Chinese Art on campus.


Ace Antonio, a University freshman, has been elected to the Paramus Board of Education after relying heavily on social media to promote his campaign. Antonio, 19, was encouraged to run for office by former teachers and friends. His story was picked up by several regional news outlets: 1010WINS, NBC News 4 New York, News 12 New Jersey, The Record and WOR-AM.
