MENDELSSOHN’S ELIJAH TO BE PERFORMED AT WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY ON APRIL 28 AT 4 P.M.

In a grand artistic collaboration, the William Paterson University Chorus combines efforts with the Central Jersey Symphony Orchestra and Master Chorale, Roger Briscoe, conductor, to present Mendelssohn’s epic oratorio, "Elijah" on Sunday, April 28 at 4 p.m. in the Shea Center for Performing Arts on the Universiy campus in Wayne.

The largest choral event to be produced on the Shea Center stage, the oratorio will feature over 80 voices accompanied by a 40-member orchestra. Stephen Bryant, William Paterson University music professor and internationally recognized bass-baritone, will conduct. Terrence Murphy, winner of the New Jersey Metropolitan Opera auditions, will sing the role of Elijah. Geoffrey Friedley is the tenor soloist and Diantha Clark is the alto soloist.

The production will travel to Raritan Valley Community College in Long Branch for a performance on Saturday, May 11. The 8 p.m. reciprocal concert will be under the baton of Roger Briscoe, a Raritan Valley Community College professor of music, with Stephen Bryant singing the role of Elijah.
