WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY HOMECOMING AND FAMILY WEEKEND DAY SET FOR OCTOBER 4 AND 5

• Pioneer Football Team to play Kean at 1 p.m. on October 5
• Fallfest activities

William Paterson University in Wayne will celebrate Homecoming and Family Weekend on Friday, October 4 and Saturday, October 5, 2002. Alumni and members of the local community are invited to participate in a variety of events hosted by the William Paterson Alumni Association.

Friday’s activities kick off with the Pioneer Softball Team vs. FDU-Florham at 3:30 p.m. on Wightman Field. That evening, at 9 p.m., alumni are invited to cheer on the Pioneer Football Team at a bonfire and pep rally in Parking Lot 2, adjacent to Wightman Field.

Saturday’s activities begin at 8:15 a.m. with an alumni flag football game on Wightman Field. The Parents Association hosts a breakfast for parents at 9 a.m. in the University’s new building at 1600 Valley Road in Wayne.

Fallfest, featuring food, games and activities for children, and live entertainment, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. adjacent to Wightman Field. Parking is available in Lot 2. Admission is free. A softball team alumni game also begins at 11:30 a.m. on Wightman Field. The Pioneer Football Team squares off against Kean University at 1:00 p.m. on Wightman Field. Admission is $5 for alumni, $7 general admission. Other events

Other Homecoming Day events include a post-football game karaoke night at 4 p.m. in Billy Pat’s Pub in the Machuga Student Center, sponsored by the African, African American and Caribbean Alumni chapter. Admission is $5. The Women’s Soccer Team plays Richard Stockton College at 5 p.m. on Wightman Field.

The day’s activities conclude with the annual Victor Talerico Student Poetry Competition and Reading at 5:30 p.m. at the Machuga student Center Café.
