Medeski, Martin and Wood to Perform at William Paterson University

The improvisational ensemble of John Medeski, piano, Billy Martin, drums, and Chris Wood, bass, will present songs which combine jazz and futuristic melodies, at William Paterson University’s Shea Center for Performing Arts in Wayne on February 22 at 8 p.m.

The trio first began playing together in Brooklyn in the early 1990s and recorded their debut album, “Notes from the Underground,” on Hap Jones Records. In 1993, they signed a record deal with Gramavision and have toured throughout the United States, Europe and Japan. Medeski, Martin and Wood currently have a deal with Blue Note Records. Their latest album, “End of the World Party” (Just in Case), produced by John King of the Dust Brothers, illustrates their unique melodic style of groove, rhythm and sound collages.

Tickets are $40 rows A-D, $35 standard, and $20 for William Paterson students, limit two tickets per ID. Students must present ID at time of purchase and at the concert. For directions or to purchase tickets, please call the Shea Center Box Office at (973) 720-2371.
