William Paterson University to Present Music for Duos

A New Music Series concert featuring duos for percussion and other instruments will be held on Monday, November 27, 2006 at William Paterson University in Wayne.  The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Shea Center on campus.  Admission is free.

Among the performers will be the DoubleStop percussion duo, featuring April McCloskey and Peter Jarvis, who will perform Steve Reich’s “Nagoya Marimbas.”

Jarvis, director of the highly acclaimed New Jersey Percussion Ensemble, is active as a percussionist, conductor, educator, composer and administrator.  He has premiered more than 100 works including pieces composed for him and the ensemble by Charles Wuorinen and Milton Babbitt, among others. His extensive touring has brought him to Asia, Russia, Canada, Mexico and throughout the United States presenting concerts and master classes.

McCloskey is a member of the New Jersey Percussion Ensemble, Absolute Percussion Quartet and Mad Coyote.  She also has performed with the Chelsea Opera Company and the High Mountain Symphony.  She currently teaches percussion in addition to performing in the New York and New Jersey area.
