WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY ACTORS TAKE THE STAGE FOR ROMANTIC DRAMA FEBRUARY 24 TO MARCH 4

“Stop Kiss,” a drama by Diana Son, will be presented at William Paterson University's Hunziker Black Box Theatre in Wayne from February 24 to March 4.

“Stop Kiss” is set in New York City where two women, a long-time resident and a newcomer, meet and bond. An act of violence sets unexpected events in motion. The drama is a romance about two star-crossed lovers who, like Romeo and Juliet, fall in love against all odds and fight to overcome the obstacles of a society and families that oppose their love. The play premiered at the New York Public Theatre in December 1998 in a production that starred Jessica Hecht (“Friends” and “Jump”) and Sandra Oh (ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy).

The cast features William Paterson University students Tiffany Groglio of Plantsville, Conn.; Eric Sax of Livingston; Brett Druck of South Orange; CC Cummings of Ventnor; Michael Turner of Leonia; Christina Hoffman of Edison; and recent University alumna Sue Weinberger of Passaic. Rachel Evans, professor of theatre education at Kean University in Union, will serve as guest director for the production.

Show times for “Stop Kiss” are 8 p.m. on February 24, 25, March 1, 2, 3, 4; 6 p.m. on February 26; and 12:30 p.m. on March 2. Tickets are $10, $7 for WPU community and senior citizens. For directions or to purchase tickets, please call the Shea Center Box Office at 973-720-2371.
