GIRL MEETS GHOUL ROCK-AND-ROLL MUSICAL “ZOMBIE PROM” AT WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY FROM APRIL 6 TO 11

The William Paterson University Performing Arts Theatre Series presents “Zombie Prom,” a high-camp, 1950s-style musical, at Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus from April 6 to 11.

“Zombie Prom” features music by Dana P. Rowe, book and lyrics by John Dempsey, with a story by John Dempsey and Hugh Murphy. This creative team also collaborated on the musicals “The Fix” and “The Witches of Eastwick.” “Zombie Prom” began as a stage musical in south Florida in 1993 and subsequently made its way to New York for an Off-Broadway run in 1996. It is a 1950s rollicking romp through America's atomic and golden ages of horror comic books.

The educational theatre production is comprised of William Paterson University students and alumni. Students in the ensemble are: Andrea Corbo of Montville; Jason Feher of Cliffside Park; Hilary Goldman of Princeton; Kimberly Griffin of Hawthorne; Pedro L. Jimenez of Hoboken; Joe Palinsky of Colonia; Stephanie Pavlides of Dumont; and Ryan Speller of Fredericksburg, Va. William Paterson alumni James Suit ‘05 and Tracey Turner ’04, both of North Arlington also perform.

Edward Matthews, director of the University’s performing arts unit, will direct. William Paterson adjunct faculty and staff members Evan Lewis and Shari Selke serve as scenic designer and production stage manager, respectively. Timothy M. Taylor ’02 is music director. Carol Sherry will design costumes, Kathleen McMahon ‘90 will design make-up and hair and Niklas Anderson will design lights.

Curtain times for “Zombie Prom” are 8 p.m. on April 6, 7, 8, and 10; 3 p.m. on April 9; and 12:30 p.m. on April 11. Tickets are $16, $12 for senior citizens and $8 for the William Paterson community. For directions or to purchase tickets, please call the Shea Center Box Office at 973-720-2371.
