MOZART REQUIEM TO BE PERFORMED AT WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY ON MAY 2 AT 8 P.M.

The William Paterson University Chorus and the William Paterson University Chamber Singers will present a spring concert featuring Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem Mass in D minor on Tuesday, May 2 at 8 p.m. in the Shea Center for Performing Arts on the University campus in Wayne. Admission is free.

Stephen Bryant, William Paterson University music professor and internationally recognized bass-baritone, will conduct the composer’s last work, left unfinished at his death. The composition, a work for soloists, choir and chamber orchestra, was completed by Mozart’s contemporaries, but the quality of the work remains. It is one of his most powerful and recognized works, not only for its music, but also its obscure composition history.

Students from the University’s music program auditioned for the solos. Chosen to perform are: soprano Dena Sweeney, a junior from Livingson; alto Stacey Plasket, a senior from Glassboro; tenor Frederick Voegele, a senior from Belvidere; and bass Michael Giroud, a junior from Glen Gardner.

Additionally, the William Paterson University Chamber Singers under the direction of Frederick Irwin will perform.

For directions and further information call William Paterson’s Shea Center Box Office at 973-720-2371.
