William Paterson University to Hold Sixth Annual Small Business Procurement Expo on May 5

Members of the public, governmental and business communities are invited to attend William Paterson University’s Sixth Annual Small Business Procurement Expo on Friday, May 5.  Seminars begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the exhibit from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Rec Center on campus.

The event is part of William Paterson’s continuing effort to increase community awareness and the utilization of small business enterprises by the University and other organizations within northern New Jersey.  The expo is sponsored by the University’s Division of Administration and Finance, Department of Purchasing, and the University’s Small Business Development Center.

At 8:30 a.m., there will be a seminar on “Doing Business with William Paterson University and Other New Jersey State Higher Education Institutions.” Speakers include Robert Bennett, associate vice president, capital planning, design and construction, Lou Poandl, director of physical plant operations, and Lirse Jones, director of purchasing, at William Paterson University.

At 9:30 a.m., Sally Glick, chief marketing officer of Sobel & Co., Certified Public Accountants and Consultants, will discuss “Marketing from the Bottom Up.”  Glick has been named to NJBIZ Magazine’s list of the “25 Most Influential Women in New Jersey.”

More than 60 firms representing women-, minority-owned, and small-commercial enterprises are scheduled to participate. Attendees will have an opportunity to interact with the vendors and discuss their services, which include: advertising, audiovisual equipment, computer products, computer security, computer hardware and software supplies and service, computer training, commercial printing, extermination and pest control, employment services, floor covering, industrial and electrical equipment, marketing, janitorial supplies, office equipment and furnishings, and signs, among others.
