WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY TO OFFER ONLINE WINTER SESSION COURSES

William Paterson University in Wayne will offer accelerated Online Winter Session courses during the University’s winter break from December 26, 2007 to January 16, 2008.

More than 40 courses will be available, including courses in music, economics, finance and global business, marketing, management, secondary and middle school education, counseling and special education, anthropology, Asian studies, English, geography and urban studies, history, languages and cultures, political science, psychology, sociology, women’s studies, community health, nursing, and exercise and movement sciences.  All courses will be taught online via Blackboard, the University’s online course management system.

Courses are open to William Paterson students as well as students from other institutions. Registration is limited to one three-credit course per student; previous experience taking online courses is strongly recommended. Students from other institutions are advised to seek prior approval for courses they wish to transfer back to their home institution for degree credit.

Registration for the online winter session continues through December 14.  A list of course offerings and syllabi is available on the William Paterson Web site at www.wpunj.edu/wintersession.  Tuition and fees are $840 per course for undergraduate students who are New Jersey residents, and $1,450 for out-of-state undergraduate students.  Tuition and fees are $1,500 per course for graduate students who are New Jersey residents and $2,400 for out-of-state graduate students.

Courses begin December 26 and end on January 16.  The New Year’s Day holiday will be observed on January 1.  Library reference assistance will be available by e-mail, and by voice mail from noon to 4 p.m. December 26 through 31 and on January 5-6 and 12-13.  Instant messaging reference service will be available from noon to 4 p.m. throughout the session.  Beginning on January 2, reference assistance will be available on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in person in the library, as well as by phone and e-mail.  Technology support for Blackboard also will be available online with a 24-hour response time except for weekends.
