St. Joseph's Healthcare System and William Paterson University present "Fostering Positive Self-Esteem In Youngsters – Strategies for Parents and Teachers"

PATERSON, NJ [MAY 4, 2009] – St. Joseph’s Healthcare System, in partnership with the Center For Continuing and Professional Education at William Paterson University, is proud to offer "Fostering Positive Self-Esteem In Youngsters – Strategies for Parents and Teachers". This workshop will be presented by Teissy Meza, PhD, Director of the Autism Center, St. Joseph's Children's Hospital at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.

A youngster with a positive self-image is able to accept responsibility, help others, act independently, try new tasks and can manage setbacks and disappointments.

Teachers play critical roles in promoting a child's self-esteem; both their words and actions impacts how a child feels about himself or herself, their relationship with others and their place in the classroom.

Dr. Meza will discuss the development of self-esteem in both children and adolescents and offer a range of strategies for nurturing self-esteem, including ways to cope with ridicule, bullying and peer pressure.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 13, in William Paterson University’s building at 1600 Valley Road, Wayne, NJ at 4:00 p.m.

There is no charge for this workshop. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. For more information please call William Paterson University at 973.720.3829. Refer to Workshop # CPE-E003.
