St. Joseph's Healthcare System and William Paterson University Present "Women: Your Hearts Really Are Different
—Case Studies in Women and Heart Disease"

PATERSON, NJ [MAY 4, 2009] – St. Joseph’s Healthcare System, in partnership with the Center For Continuing and Professional Education at William Paterson University, is proud to offer "Women: Your Hearts Really Are Different - Case Studies in Women and Heart Disease." This workshop will be presented by Margaret Latrella, RN, MSN, APRN-C and Carolyn Strimike, RN, MSN, APRN-C, Advance Practice Nurses, The Women's Heart Center at St. Joseph's.

Every minute of every day, a woman dies of heart disease, the leading cause of death for all women in our country. Research has shown that how women develop heart disease, the presentation of their symptoms and the type of disease are quite different from men. Diagnostic tests that identify heart disease in men are also dissimilar from those used for women. Using cardiac case studies of women who have been evaluated in The Women's Heart Center at St. Joseph's, the presenters will show the most recent advances in diagnosing heart disease in women and offer strategies for women to assure that they receive the most appropriate testing.

The workshop will be held on Tuesday, May 12, in William Paterson University’s Building at 1600 Valley Road, Wayne, NJ, at 7:00 p.m.

There is no charge for this workshop. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. For more information please call William Paterson University at 973.720.3804.
