WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY TO OFFER ONLINE WINTER SESSION COURSES; REGISTRATION OPEN TO WILLIAM PATERSON STUDENTS AND THOSE FROM OTHER COLLEGES

William Paterson University in Wayne will offer accelerated Online Winter Session courses during the University’s winter break from December 26, 2009 to January 15, 2010.

More than 60 courses will be available, including courses in music; economics, finance and global business; management; secondary and middle school education; special education; African, African American and Caribbean studies; anthropology; geography and urban studies; history; languages and cultures; political science; psychology; sociology; women’s studies; biology; kinesiology; mathematics; physics; and public health. All courses will be taught online via Blackboard, the University’s online course management system.

Courses are open to William Paterson students as well as students from other institutions. Registration is limited to three credits or one course, whichever is greater, per student; previous experience taking online courses is strongly recommended. Students from other institutions are advised to seek prior approval for courses they wish to transfer back to their home institution for degree credit.

Registration for the online winter session continues through December 16. A list of course offerings and syllabi is available on the William Paterson Web site at www.wpunj.edu/wintersession. Tuition and fees for undergraduate students who are New Jersey residents are $640 for two credits, $900 for three credits and $1,160 for four credits. Tuition and fees for out-of-state undergraduate students are $1,080 for two credits, $1,560 for three credits and $2,040 for four credits. Tuition and fees for graduate students who are New Jersey residents are $1,130 for two credits, $1,640 for three credits and $2,145 for four credits. Tuition and fees for out-of-state graduate students are $1,780 for two credits, $2,610 for three credits and $3,440 for four credits.

Courses begin December 26 and end on January 15. The New Year’s Day holiday will be observed on January 1. Library reference assistance will be available by e-mail and by voice mail from noon to 4 p.m. December 26 through January 3 and on January 9-10. Instant messaging reference service will be available from noon to 4 p.m. when the library is closed during the session. Beginning on January 4, reference assistance will be available on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in person in the library, as well as by phone and e-mail. Technology support for Blackboard also will be available online with a 24-hour response time except for weekends.
