Faculty Honored for Achievement in Scholarship, Teaching and Service
Nine faculty members were honored for their outstanding achievements in scholarship/creative activity, teaching, and service during the fifth annual Faculty Recognition Luncheon held on May 18 in conjunction with the University’s 187th commencement ceremonies. The awards, which were presented by President Arnold Speert and Provost Edward Weil, were instituted in 2004 to recognize faculty achievement and contributions as the University celebrates the success of students at their graduation. Honored in the category of scholarship and creative expression were Stephen Bryant, music; Daniel Kolak, philosophy; and Sara Nalle, history. In the teaching category, recipients were Erh-Wen Hu, computer science; Robert McCallum, chemistry; and Lynne Rogers, music. Receiving awards for service were Guiliana Andreopoulos, economics, finance, and global business; James Hauser, English; and Kathy Malanga, library. “Nine faculty have been recognized this year for their outstanding accomplishments in research/scholarship, teaching, and service,” says Edward Weil, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. “Those receiving awards this year have contributed to the advancement of their disciplines through publications and exhibitions, inspired students by their dedication to the life of the classroom, and provided extraordinary service to the campus or community.” Each honoree received a plaque, a citation, and a $1,000 award for professional development activities such as research assistance, conference attendance, training and travel.
