University's
Master Plan Honored
American School and University magazine has named the University’s
Facilities Master Plan among the top ten Outstanding Projects in
the national campus master plan competition category for 2003.
The publication cited using existing space with an eye toward future development, a strong commitment to preserving the remaining open space on campus, and using information garnered from last year’s campus-wide charette as reasons for the honor.
A trade magazine, ASU has a national circulation, and runs
design competitions which are open to schools and universities across
the country in a wide range of categories.
"This award reflects positively on the University and the inclusive process we engaged in to develop the plan," says Stephen Bolyai, vice president for administration and finance, whose office worked closely with the architects, Saratoga Associates Landscape Architects, Architects, Engineers and Planners, P.C., to develop the plan.
The University’s master plan was developed to provide strategic direction for future growth. The current construction and renovation of the Student Center is the first phase of its implementation.
