Nisha Drinkard, art, was among twelve artists feature in an exhibit titled “Theory + Practice” at Gallery Aferro in Newark from April 19 through May 17, 2008. She also served as juror for the “Contemporary Fiber” exhibit at The Gallery of Contemporary Art at Sacred Heart University, which was on view from April 27 through May 29, 2008.
“Broken Bindings: Mixed Media, Prints, and Book Forms,” a one–person exhibit of works by Leslie Nobler Farber, art, was on view from April 25 through May 22, 2008, at the Johnson & Johnson World Headquarters Gallery in New Brunswick as part of the gallery’s New Jersey Artist Series. Jane Hutchison, library, has been appointed by Governor Jon Corzine to serve on the New Jersey State School Ethics Commission. The School Ethics Commission is a nine-member body that reviews, investigates and renders decisions on complaints against school officials alleging violations of the School Ethics Act. Hutchison, whose term runs through 2009, is also president of the Wayne Board of Education.
Graduate student research was the topic of a poster session sponsored by the College of Education during a reception held for its 2008 master’s degree students on May 12. The session allows graduates to share their thesis research or capstone action research projects with the academic community. An Anthology of New York Poets, a 1970 volume co-edited by David Shapiro, art, and Ron Padgett, was included by New York Magazine in its special 40th anniversary feature “The New York Canon” on April 14, 2008. The book was one of “26 works of lapidary New Yorkitude” cited by the magazine, which listed “essential New York works of art from the last 40 years” in a number of categories, including books, movies, theater, TV, architecture, art, pop and jazz, classical music and dance. |
