The University was one of 100 institutions nationwide who recently submitted a climate action plan (CAP) to the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment, joining other likeminded institutions in the quest to achieve climate neutrality. CAP represents the University’s commitment to reduce campus greenhouse gas emissions, and outlines other initiatives to save energy.
“In this way, we are sharing our information with other institutions and at the same time we have access to their information,” says Lou Poandl, director of physical plant operations. “Our climate action plan details our energy diet to increase energy efficiency for the campus, and seek out clean energy sources such as the photovoltaic panel arrays we are planning to install on campus to provide electricity. The arrays will be installed on some buildings and over some parking lots.”
