The fifth annual Women of Vision Awards celebrated the accomplishments of four members of the William Paterson University community during the closing ceremony of the University’s observance of Women’s History Month on March 24.

“The Women’s Center began the Women of Vision Awards in 2006 as a way to recognize women in our community who are outstanding citizens,” Sanchez says. “We choose nominees who are positive role models and skillful leaders who inspire those around them and exemplify commitment to service and education, and women who are dedicated to the expansion of opportunities for others, particularly women whose vision and voices impact lives and benefit their community. The enthusiasm has grown in the University community for nominating colleagues, students, alumni, and women from the community at large who excel at what they do and are deserving of recognition.”

The dinner raised nearly $1,300 for the American Heart Association.

Student organizations that helped organize Women’s History Months events and were honored at the ceremony include Latin@ Connections, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Delta Phi Epsilon International Sorority, Inc., the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, the Organization of Latin American Students, Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc., Student Activities Programming Board, the Student Government Association, and Women in Science and Engineering.
