ANNE CILIBERTI NAMED DIRECTOR OF WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY LIBRARY Anne Ciliberti has been appointed director of the David and Lorraine Cheng Library at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey. In her position, Ciliberti will guide development of the libraryŐs services and collections to ensure broad support of the universityŐs growing academic programs and research initiatives. The libraryŐs staff currently includes more than 40 professional and support personnel and its collection consists of more than 350,000 books, 1,700 periodical subscriptions, and an extensive collection of databases and nonprint materials. Ciliberti, who had served as acting director of the library since September 2000, previously held the positions of associate director (June-September 2000), head of collection development (1992-2000), associate director for reader services (1980-1987), head of reference (1977-1980) and reference librarian (1976-1977). From 1990 to 1992, Ciliberti served as executive director of the Bergen-Passaic Regional Library Cooperative. A leader in the library and higher education community on the statewide level, Ciliberti was instrumental in the creation of VALE (Virtual Library Academic Environment), a statewide consortium of 49 institutions of higher education that creates a seamless network of access to shared electronic information resources. Ciliberti has been an active participant in VALE since 1998 and received its Meritorious Service Award in 2001. Ciliberti is a graduate of Hamilton College with a bachelorŐs degree in literature. She earned masterŐs and doctoral degrees in library science from Rutgers University. The author of articles for such scholarly publications as the Journal of Academic Librarianship, Ciliberti has been the principal author of several grants from the New Jersey State Library. She received the 1999 Distinguished Service Award from the College and University Section, New Jersey Library Association. She resides in Glen Rock, New Jersey.
