"COMPANY" MUSICAL TO BE PRESENTED AT WILLIAM PATERSON UNVIERSITY
"Company," the 1970 Tony Award-winning musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by George Furth, will be presented at William Paterson University in Wayne from March 25 to March 30. The play will be staged in Shea Center on campus on March 25, 26, 27 and 29 at 8 p.m., Sunday, March 28 at 3 p.m., and Tuesday, March 30 at 12:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 standard, $7 for the William Paterson community and senior citizens, and $6 for students. When it first debuted, "Company" was celebrated as being sophisticated, innovative, glittering, funny, and filled with brilliant music. During its 25th anniversary Broadway revival in 1995, John Simon of New York magazine noted that "it is still the best work he (Stephen Sondheim) has ever done." Set in New York City, the story revolves around the pros and cons of matrimony. Featured in the cast are William Paterson students Melinda Blum of Randallstown, MD; Scott Edmonds and Tara Ricart of Prospect Park; Tina Glowacki of Bloomfield; Samara Grossman of Fort Lee; Jaclyn Hunt of Kenilworth; James J. Miles III of Sicklerville; Christopher Paseka of Belleville; Renee Romanelli of Cedar Knolls; Alyce Janel Rosolen of Clifton; Andrew Semegram of Wyckoff; Hope Stevenson of Landing; Anne Vaneyk of North Haledon and Michael K. Wnoroski of Kearny. Other cast members are Shelli Haynes of West Orange and Andrew Hood of Glen Ridge. Edward Mathews, director of William Paterson's Performing Arts Management Resources Unit, is the director of the production. Matthews is a graduate of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and holds a master's degree from Idaho State University and a master of fine arts degree in directing/acting from Sarah Lawrence College. He has more than 15 years of experience as a professional lighting designer for metropolitan area theatre productions and lives in New York City.
