MUSICAL REVUE TO KICK OFF AT WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY

"Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh," a musical revue centered around the songs of Allan Sherman, will be presented at William Paterson University's Shea Center for Performing Arts in Wayne. Slated for a six-performance run from April 5 to 10, the cast sings and dances under the stage direction and choreography of Brian Vinero, who performed in the Atlantic City production of "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh." Gary Sabak serves as musical director. The set is designed by Jeremy Doucette and the lighting is designed by Edward Matthews.

The review was conceived and written by Douglas Bernstein and Rob Krausz, but the tunes are all Sherman. Allan Sherman reconfigured a classical work, Ponchielli's "Dance of the Hours" from "La Gioconda," into the comically candid "A Letter from Camp," a.k.a. "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah." This tune became the number one song in the country and sold more than one million copies in the ten weeks following its release. Bernstein and Krausz took this and 22 other Sherman songs and wove them into a delicatessen of entertainment. Jan Stuart of "Newsday" called the New York production "a party, nutty as a Viennese table and splashy as a fruit punch fountain at a caterer's affair."

The William Paterson University eight-person cast is comprised of students, alumni and community actors Christina Araujo of Little Egg Harbor, Matt Block of South Orange, Samara Grossman of Fort Lee, Raechel Heffers of Manahawkin, Marlene Matsko of Garfield, James Miles of Erial, Frank Simini of Dover, and Michael Wnoroski of Kearny will each play numerous roles.

Show times for "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh" are 8 p.m., April 5 to 7 and April 9; 3 p.m., April 8; and 12:30 p.m., April 10. In addition to regular Shea Center seating, additional cabaret-style seating is added to accommodate up to 60 patrons. Two small on-stage concession stands will serve Jewish-themed snacks. Tickets are $10, $7 for senior citizens, students and members of the William Paterson community. For directions or to purchase tickets, please call the Shea Center Box Office at 973.720.2371.
