HOMECOMING AND FAMILY DAY CELEBRATION SET FOR OCTOBER 20
- New events include parade
through downtown Haledon beginning at 10 a.m.
- Pioneer Football Team to
play Cortland at 1:30 p.m.
- Fallfest activities
William Paterson University
in Wayne will celebrate Homecoming on Saturday, October 20, 2001. Alumni
and members of the local community are invited to participate in a variety
of events hosted by the William Paterson Alumni Association.
The days activities begin
at 10 a.m. with a Homecoming Parade stepping off from Belmont Avenue and
Henry Street in Haledon. Haledon Mayor Ken Pengitore will serve as Grand
Marshal for the parade, which will feature floats and music. The parade
will continue along Belmont Avenue to Pompton Road, concluding in Parking
Lot 2 on the William Paterson campus.
Fallfest, featuring food, games and activities for children, and live
entertainment, will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. adjacent to Wightman
Field. Parking is available in Lot 2.. Admission is free. The Pioneer
Football Team squares off against Cortland State University at 1:30 p.m.
on Wightman Field. Admission is $5 for alumni, $7 general admission.
Other Homecoming Day sports events include the Pioneer Field Hockey Team
vs. New Paltz at 11 a.m. and the Pioneer Mens Soccer Team vs. Rowan
at 7 p.m., both on Wightman Field. A post-game pub party will be held
from 4 to 9 p.m. in Billy Pats Pub in the Machuga Student Center;
admission is $6.
Evening activities include a performance of the play "Lusting After
Pepinos Wife" at 8 p.m. in the Hunziker Black Box Theatre and
a concert by The Orchestra at William Paterson University at 8 p.m. in
