"FEED ME!" CAMPY MUSICAL COMES TO WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY "Little Shop of Horrors," a musical based on a B-grade cult movie of the 1960s, will be presented at William Paterson UniversityÕs Shea Center for Performing Arts in Wayne. Slated for a seven-performance run July 13 Ð 15 and 18 Ð 21, the community/educational theatre production is directed by Edward Matthews, with musical direction by Julie E. Balog and choreography by Daniel Haley. Alan Menken (lyrics and book) and Howard Ashman (music) based the musical on the 1960 Roger Corman movie, Little Shop of Horrors, and opened the production in the off-Broadway Orpheum Theatre where it gained a hearty following and ran for 2,209 performances. It tells the story of Seymour Krelbourn, a meek florist who makes a Faustian pact with a tiny plant in order to win Audrey, the girl he loves. The mysterious plant needs blood to survive, and when fed, grows and grows into a personified carnivorous behemoth. The show is punctuated by musical commentary delivered by a Supremes-style trio that bounces around the flower shop's inner-city neighborhood with a message of hope.
