WILLIAM
PATERSON UNIVERSITY ECONOMICS PROFESSOR NAMED FULBRIGHT SCHOLAR
Dr. Francis
Cai of Wayne, a William Paterson University professor of economics,
finance and global business, has been named a Fulbright Exchange
Scholar and will spend the spring 2002 semester conducting research
and teaching in China. Cai is one of approximately 800 U.S. Fulbright
scholars who will travel abroad during this academic year.
A specialist
in investment and financial market analysis, Cai will be a Fulbright
lecturer at Fudan University in Shanghai, where he will conduct
research on foreign direct investment and economic growth in China.
He will also teach courses in managerial finance and capital budgeting,
and will supervise graduate thesis students.
William Paterson University is particularly proud of its participation
in the Fulbright program, the U.S. governments flagship international
exchange program for scholars. With this award, Cai becomes the
26th Fulbright scholar on the Universitys faculty
Cai has been
a member of the William Paterson faculty since 1993. Previously,
he held positions as a staff economist and finance manager for AT&T
Global Finance Group and as an assistant professor at the College
of Staten Island. A graduate of Shanghai Jiao Tong University with
a bachelor of science degree in automation control and a master
of science degree in management, Cai holds a doctorate in financial
economics from The City University of New York.
The author of
numerous publications in scholarly business journals, Cai has also
served as a financial consultant for AT&T Consumer Finance Group
and as a system analyst for the New York City Department of Environmental
Protection.
William Paterson
University, one of the nine state colleges and universities in New
Jersey, offers 30 undergraduate and 18 graduate programs through
five colleges: Arts and Communication, Business, Education, Humanities
and Social Sciences, and Science and Health. Located on 370 hilltop
acres in Wayne, the University enrolls approximately 10,500 students

363 full-time faculty are highly distinguished and diverse scholars
