SANDRA LYNNE MILLER NAMED DIRECTOR OF INSTRUCTION AND RESEARCH TECHNOLOGY AT WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY

Sandra Lynne Miller, a resident of Wayne, has been appointed director of instruction and research technology (IRT) at William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J. The IRT department provides a comprehensive array of production and support services both to the campus and the surrounding community in the areas of distance learning, instructional technology, media services, broadcasting, conferencing services, audio/video production, training and technical support.

Previously, Miller was director of learning assistance centers and support services at Atlantic Cape Community College in Mays Landing, where she oversaw operations at all three campus sites. She was promoted from prior positions as director of academic support services and coordinator of learning assistance at the college’s Extension Center in Atlantic City.

Miller has published articles and conducted workshops and presentations on the topic of and using technology in education and online tutoring. Her chapter, titled "Online Tutoring," is included in the recently published book "Quality Enhancing Practices in Distance Education: Student Services," edited by C. Dalziel and M. Payne.
Miller holds a doctorate in educational technology from Pepperdine University. She earned a master’s degree in English literature from Indiana University and a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Washington University, St. Louis, Mo.
