William Paterson University Presents One-Day Conference On Teaching
Asian Studies
A one-day conference for educators and community business leaders,
titled "War, Religion and Society in Asia," will be conducted
by William Paterson University in Wayne on Saturday, November 15,
from 8:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Atrium on campus. The conference
is designed to foster a deeper understanding of Asia and to promote
Asian studies across the curriculum and in professional fields.
The conference will feature nine presentations by scholars in different
academic fields who will provide in-depth information, thought-provoking
insights and practical classroom applications on countries including
China, Japan, India, Korea, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Vietnam. In
addition to the formal presentations, the conference will include
cultural demonstrations such as calligraphy, painting, origami and
dance as well as information on study programs in Asia.
The conference is sponsored by the University’s Asian Studies
Program in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the
Center for Continuing Education and Distance Learning.
Registered conference attendees are eligible for five contact hours
or five CEUs. Registration fee is $65. Students can pre-register
by November 10 for $20. Non-registrants are welcome to attend the
cultural demonstrations and other Atrium lobby events. For further
