Panel to Discuss Bush Administration Policies on March 26 and 27
—Discussion Initiates Collaboration Between William Paterson University and John Jay College of Criminal Justice

Panelists from William Paterson University and John Jay College of Criminal Justice will debate Bush Administration policies during a two-day program which marks the beginning of an ongoing collaboration between the two institutions designed to provide faculty and students with a unique opportunity to explore issues of global importance. The collaboration resulted from discussions between William Paterson Provost and Executive Vice President Chernoh Sesay and John Jay Provost Basil Wilson.

"The panel discussions are the first events in the collaboration between William Paterson and John Jay," says Michael Principe, associate professor of political science, and chairperson of the committee that is organizing the collaboration at William Paterson. "In the very near future, we envision that the collaboration will lead to a series of discussions, conferences, and joint research projects in politics and economics, as well as in fields such as genetics, philosophy, communication, and the environment, to name a few."

The first panel discussion, "The Bush Administration and its Foreign Policy," will be held at William Paterson on March 26 from 12:30 to 3 p.m. in the Martini Teleconference Center on the campus in Wayne. The panelists are William Paterson professors of political science Maya Chadda, Steve Shalom and Martin Weinstein, who will also moderate. From John Jay, the panelists are George Andreopoulos, professor of government, Maki Haverfeld, professor of law and political science, and Itah Sneh, professor of history.

The discussion moves to the John Jay campus in New York City on March 27 at 6:30 p.m. where the panelists will debate "The Bush Administration and its Domestic Policy." Participants from William Paterson include, Principe, Sheila Collins, professor of political science, and Giuliana Campanelli, associate professor of economics, finance and global business. Panelists from John Jay are Avraam Bornstein, professor of anthropology, Barry Latzer, professor of government, and Andreopoulos, who will also act as moderator.

The collaboration continues with an international conference, "Humanizing Globalization: The Quest for Sustainable Development, Social Justice and Good Government," sponsored by both schools, to be held at William Paterson on October 30-31.

All events are free and open to the public. For additional information, please call Principe at 973-720-3619.
