William Paterson University Hosts 2004 Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association Conference

Topics ranging from “The Truth About Downloading” “to “Music Copyright Do’s, Don’ts, Myths and Maybes” will be discussed at this year’s Music and Entertainment Industry Educators Association (MEIEA) Conference, hosted by William Paterson University, on April 2 and 3, 2004.

The two-day conference, held in conjunction with its student organization, the Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association (MEISA), will be held on Friday, April 2 at The Supper Club in New York City, and on Saturday, April 3 at William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J. A special guest speaker is expected to be announced.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting this conference because it gives students the opportunity to meet industry professionals, stay abreast of the important trends, and gain the type of hands-on experience stressed in our music management program,” says Stephen Marcone, professor of music at William Paterson and conference coordinator.

Music industry executives from organizations such as the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) and Virgin Records will present lectures and workshops on important issues and trends affecting the industry.

Several William Paterson alumni will be among the presenters, including David Philip, director of premium sales and new media for Universal Music Group; Sean Rosenberg, a member of BMG’s strategic marketing group; Chris Roslan, president and managing partner of Dera, Roslan & Campion Public Relations, Inc.; Joanne Shentor, mechanical licensing administrator for EMI Music, N.A.; and Aaron Van Duyne II, president of Van Duyne, Behrens & Co., an accounting firm with clients in the entertainment industry.

William Paterson University offers graduate and undergraduate degrees in music education, music management, and jazz studies. William Paterson is the only University in New Jersey – and one of approximately 50 in the U.S. – that offers a bachelors degree with a concentration music management.
