DIGITAL ART ON VIEW AT WILLIAM PATERSON
UNIVERSITY
The 2003 SIGGRAPH Traveling Art Show, a juried exhibit of digital
art and animation, is on view in the Ben Shahn Galleries at William
Paterson University in Wayne through October 15. Gallery hours are
Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free. An opening
reception for the exhibit will be held on Sunday, October 3 from
3 to 5 p.m.
The exhibit features digital artists from around the world who submitted
their pieces to the 2003 International SIGGRAPH Conference, an annual
event that showcases innovations in the field of computer graphics.
The 2003 art show associated with the conference focused on digital
prints, sculpture, and the growing impact of digital video and animation.
Bruce Wands and Victor Acevedo, two of the artists featured in the
exhibit, will be on hand during the reception to discuss their works.
Wands, chair of the Graduate Computer Art Department at the School
of Visual Arts, and Acevedo, an instructor Graduate Computer Art
Departmenat the School of Visual Arts, will also present a discussion
of their works, digital printmaking, and their SIGGRAPH Art Show
experience, on Tuesday, October 5 at 4 p.m. in the Ben Shahn Galleries.
In conjunction with the opening reception, the University’s
Center for Computer Art and Animation will hold an open house in
the center’s new studio facilities in Ben Shahn Hall.
