Molly Ivins to Conclude William Paterson University’s Distinguished Lecturer Series

Molly Ivins, a nationally syndicated columnist, author and weekly television commentator, will present the final lecture of the 2003-2004 Distinguished Lecturer Series at William Paterson University on April 30.

A limited number of single tickets may be available at the Shea Center Box Office after noon on Thursday, April 29. For ticket availability, and to purchase single tickets, please call the box office at 973-720-2371 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.; prices are $26 standard; $24 for senior citizens, William Paterson faculty, staff and alumni; $10 for William Paterson students; and $14 for students from other schools. All lectures begin at 8 p.m. in Shea Center on campus; parking is free.

Ivins’ work appears in more than 300 newspapers across the country. She typically writes about national politics and Texas. Ivins is an ardent observer of President Bush and author of “Shrub,” which details Bush’s record as governor of Texas and his election to the White House.

Ivins’ freelance work has appeared in many publications including “Esquire,” “The Atlantic,” “The Nation,” “Harper’s” and “TV Guide.” Her best-selling book, “Molly Ivins Can’t Say That, Can She?” is a collection of essays on politics and journalism.

She has also appeared as a weekly commentator on “60 Minutes.” Ivins, who received her master’s from Columbia University, has been a finalist three times for the Pulitzer Prize. In 1992, she received the Headliners Award for the best newspaper column in Texas.
