Expert On New Music Copyright Issues Will Speak at William Paterson
University on Tuesday, November 16
E. Michael Harrington, a noted expert on the subject of music copyright
issues, including sampling, downloading, and other infringements,
will speak at William Paterson University on Tuesday, November 16,
at 7:30 p.m. in the Martini Conference Center, Hobart Hall. The
event is free and the public is invited.
Harrington will give examples of music copyright cases, current
rulings and how songwriters can protect themselves against infringement.
Harrington teaches intellectual property law as a professor of entertainment
and music business at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. He
has taught training sessions for Harvard Law School students and
lectures extensively on the subject.
William Paterson University offers graduate and undergraduate degrees
in music education, music management, and jazz studies. William
Paterson is the only university in New Jersey – and one of
approximately 50 in the U.S. – that offers a bachelor’s
degree in music with a concentration in music management.
