SISTER SOULJAH TO SPEAK AT WILLIAM PATERSON
UNIVERSITY’S SISTER TO SISTER CONFERENCE
Sister Souljah, a community activist, lecturer and author, will
present the keynote address at the seventh annual Sister to Sister
Conference titled, “Acknowledging the Queen Within: Uplifting
Ourselves By Conquering Our Fears.” The event will be held
on Saturday, March 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Machuga
Student Center at William Paterson University. Admission is free
and a continental breakfast and lunch buffet will be served.
“The primary purpose of the conference is to give female students
a safe environment in which to share ideas and beliefs and to discuss
issues related to personal success,” said Georgia Daniel,
assistant dean, office of enrollment management, and conference
chair. “We want students to leave from the conference with
a greater sense of self-commitment to personal growth, and academic
and career success.”
The event will feature nine concurrent sessions on issues including
women’s health care, self esteem and women’s safety
issues.
Originally from the Bronx, Sister Souljah graduated from Rutgers
University with degrees in American history and African studies.
She has dedicated her life to making the hip-hop generation aware
of politics, culture, business and social organizations. Sister
Souljah is also the author of two national best sellers, “The
Coldest Winter Ever” and “No Disrespect,” and
will hold a book signing at the end of the conference.
