ALUMNI LECTURE SERIES TO BE PRESENTED AT WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY

An insider’s view on television and advice about how people can advance their careers are topics under discussion by three William Paterson University alumni at the Alumni Lecture Series on March 8 at 7 p.m. in the Nicholas Martini Teleconference Center in Hobart Hall.

The guest speakers are Roderick Daniels ’75, Susan Lisovicz ’78 and Mark Kozaki B.A. ’79, M.A. ’80. Anthony Maltese, a William Paterson professor emeritus, will moderate. The event will feature a question and answer type of format. An alumni and student networking reception will follow in Hobart Hall.

Roderick Daniels, an anchor at WBAL-TV 11, Baltimore, graduated from William Paterson with a bachelor’s degree in speech communication. He began his career as a weekend sports anchor with WIS-TV in Columbia, South Carolina. In 1984, he joined WBAL , and holds the record as the longest continuing anchor within the particular market. His coverage of church activities earned him the Catholic Archdiocese Medal of Honor for Communications. Daniels also spends his time speaking to school groups and hosting community events.

Susan Lisovicz is an anchor and correspondent for CNN Business News. As a student at William Paterson, she took courses in journalism, television and radio. She worked as a reporter for the Beacon and WPSC-FM; North Jersey’s independent radio station. Lisovicz’s career also includes stints as a staff reporter for the Associated Press, freelance assignments for WABC-TV in New York, and a general assignment reporter and “Headline News” anchor for CNN based in Atlanta.

Mark Kozaki, senior vice president of operations and administration for the Discovery Network, received his bachelor’s and master’s degree in communication from William Paterson.. Kozaki played an instrumental role in the successful launch of the Animal Planet and held the position as director of operations for the network from 1996 to 1999. He has also served on the Board of Governors of The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, where he represented the entire television industry in non-fiction programming.
