William Paterson University Premiers New Play, "9 Months: Inside Out," from February 25 to March 5

William Paterson University in Wayne will present a new production of “9 Months: Inside Out,” a new comedy by West Orange playwright S.W. Senek, from February 25 to March 5 in the Hunziker Black Box Theatre on campus. The play was the grand prize winner in the University’s New Jersey Playwright’s Competition held in fall 2004.

The cast is comprised of four William Paterson University students: Brett Druck of South Orange, a freshman majoring in communication; Travis Garcia of Boonton, a senior majoring in communication; Jennifer Lengares of Hewitt, a senior majoring in biology; and Sue Weinberger of Mahwah, a senior majoring in communication and women’s studies. The production is directed by Phillip Sprayberry of Clifton, William Paterson University media relations coordinator.

“9 Months: Inside Out” explores the ins and outs of those precarious nine months between conception and birth as seen through the fears and hopes of the parents-to-be and all who will come in contact with the newborn.

Senek’s play “Outcome” was the winner of the 2003 Circle Choice Award at the Palm Springs National Short Play Festival 2003 and finalist in the 2004 Turnip Festival in New York; “Making Room” was featured in the 2004 Seventh Annual Festival of One-Act Plays at Theatre Three in Port Jefferson, New York. His play “Fool Circle” received a staged reading at 12 Miles West Theatre in 2004 and a developmental workshop production at the Trilogy Theatre, New York. Senek is employed in the publications department at Dramatists Play Service, Inc. He holds a B.F.A. in theatre from Youngstown State University and is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, Inc.

Show times for “9 Months: Inside Out” are 8 p.m. on February 25, 26 and March 2, 3, 4, 5; 6 p.m. on February 27, and 12:30 p.m. on March 3. Tickets are $10, $7 for senior citizens. For directions or to purchase tickets, please call the Shea Center Box Office at 973-720-2371.
