WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY PRESENTS “DEFYING GRAVITY” FROM FEBRUARY 15 TO 18
William Paterson University in Wayne will present a production of “Defying Gravity,” Jane Anderson’s drama, from February 15 to 18 in the Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus. “Defying Gravity” is a play of poetic fantasy inspired by the 1986 space shuttle Challenger disaster that took the life of its astronauts, including schoolteacher Christa McAuliffe.
In “Defying Gravity,” playwright Jane Anderson weaves together the past and the present with the lives of the participants and bystanders. It challenges us to reach beyond ourselves—daring the universe, striving for the outer limits of human possibility.
The cast features William Paterson University students and a professor: Dana Cipoletto of Bergen; Tim Johnson of Clifton; Alison Jones of Jersey City; Carrie Littman of Parsippany; Judy Stone of Union; Scott Wylie of Trenton; and Jay Ludwig, Ph.D., professor of communication, of Kinnelon. The production is directed by Jerry Beal, William Paterson University assistant professor of communication, of Hoboken. Set design is by Evan Lewis of Jersey City.
Show times for “Defying Gravity” are 8 p.m. on February 15 - 18; 11 a.m. on February 17; and 2 p.m. on February 18. Tickets are $10, $7 for WPU community and senior citizens. For directions or to purchase tickets, please call the Shea Center Box Office at 973-720-2371.
