WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY SPONSORS CONFERENCE ON GLOBAL ECONOMIC INEQUALITY
A conference titled “Economic Inequality and the Prospect of Democracy: Global Perspectives” will be held at William Paterson University in Wayne on Thursday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Hobart Hall on campus. Admission is free. The conference is sponsored by the University‘s Department of Political Science and its M.A. Program in Public Policy and International Affairs.
Panelists include invited speakers and members of the Department of Political Science, who will speak on topics including why economic inequality matters, how economic inequality erodes democracy, how democracy can respond, and what the future will bring. Speakers include: Stanley Aronowitz, author of How Class Works: Power and Social Movement; Stephen Eric Bronner, author of Reclaiming the Enlightenment: Toward a Politics of Radical Engagement; Philip Green, author of Equality and Democracy and Primetime Politics: The Truth about Conservative Lies, Corporate Control, and Television Culture; James Lardner, co-editor of Inequality Matters: The Growing Economic Divide in America and its Poisonous Consequences; Edward Wolff, author of Top Heavy: The Increasing Inequality of Wealth in America and What Can Be Done About It; andRichard Wolff, co-editor of Class and its Others.
