WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY MUSIC DEPARTMENT PRESENTS FOURTH HINDEMITHON ON FEBRUARY 10 and 11
The fourth annual Hindemithon, sponsored by the William Paterson University Music Department, will feature guest artist Jeff Baumeister, pianist, composer and WP alumnus, on Friday and Saturday, February 10 and 11 from 5 to 10 p.m. each evening.
The performances will take place in Room 101 of Shea Center for Performing Arts and in the main auditorium in Shea Center on campus in Wayne. Admission is free.
Under the artistic direction of Frank Pavese, adjunct music faculty member at William Paterson, a performance and discussion marathon of music composed by twentieth century German-American composer and violinist Paul Hindemith is planned. Performers include a wide range of instrumentalists from the University and the area. The forum brings together students, faculty and alumni of the University with guest artists and local modern music enthusiasts.
Guest artist Jeff Baumeister is a 1995 graduate of the University. A Philadelphia-based pianist and composer, Baumeister concentrates on jazz, funk and experimental music. He regularly contributes to Down Beat magazine. In 2005, with his quartet, he released the CD “Useful Music,” which integrates his two loves – twentieth century music, particularly Hindemith, and jazz.
For additional information on the concert, please access www.hindemithon.com or call the Shea Center for Performing Arts Box Office at 973.720.2371.
