William Paterson University to Host Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for Senior Citizens on November 18
More than 200 senior citizens from northern New Jersey are expected to attend William Paterson University's Ninth Annual Senior Citizens Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday, November 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Brownstone in Paterson.
The event is hosted by William Paterson University as an opportunity for the seniors to celebrate the holiday as a community.
In addition to a traditional turkey dinner, guests will enjoy entertainment by a deejay, music by singer Vinnie Torrell, and Robert Sweeney and Dr. Rebecca Reid will perform their traditional ballroom dances. University volunteers, including faculty, staff and students, will assist at the event. Members of the campus community and businesses from the tri-county area have donated gift certificates for the guests. Free buses will be provided by the Board of Chosen Freeholders of Passaic County.
Members of the University’s newly formed club, the Silver Pioneers, will be in attendance. The club, for people 55 and older, is designed to offer new skills, opportunities for socializing and lifelong learning through the institution’s Center for Continuing and Professional Education. The group meets once a month on Mondays.
The dinner is organized by William Paterson's Office of the Provost and University volunteers. Emergency services will be provided by the Paterson and North Haledon First Aid Squads.
For further information about the dinner, or to join the Silver Pioneers, please contact Valerie Marino, Center for Continuing and Professional Education, at 973-720-3804.
