Harold Ford, Jr. and Susan Molinari, prominent and well-respected former members of Congress from opposite sides of the aisle, join together on October 26, 2007 to discuss the candidates and issues that are shaping the most hotly contested Presidential campaign in ages.  Ford, a Democrat from Tennessee, served in the House of Representatives for 10 years and is now chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council and vice chairman of Merrill Lynch.  Molinari, a Republican from New York, served in the House for seven years and is now chairman and CEO of the Washington Group.

On January 25, 2008, with spring training around the corner, general managers Brian Cashman of the New York Yankees and Theo Epstein of the Boston Red Sox, archrivals as well as friends, provide a rare opportunity for an audience to hear their insights as successful and young baseball executives. They’ll talk about the challenges of building a championship team and the pressure to win in a rivalry that began almost a century ago. The conversation will be moderated by Kevin Burkhardt, Mets field reporter for SportsNet NY (SNY) and an alumnus of William Paterson University.  At age 31, the Yankees’s Cashman became the youngest GM ever to win a World Series, and the only one ever to do so in each of his first three seasons. In 2002, the Red Sox made Epstein at age 28 the youngest GM in major league history. In 2004, he engineered Boston’s first World Series championship in 86 years.

Stephen Sondheim, musical theatre icon, discusses his 50-year career as a composer and lyricist for stage and screen on February 15, 2008. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize, an Academy Award and multiple Tony, Drama Desk and Grammy awards, Sondheim is one of the most vital figures in Broadway history. Vocal illustrations will be performed by Anthony Rapp, best known for creating the role of Mark Cohen in the Broadway and feature film versions of Rent. Sean Patrick Flahaven, associate editor of the Sondheim Review, will moderate this special evening, shortly before the scheduled opening of the Broadway revival of Sondheim's and James Lapine's acclaimed Sunday in the Park with George.

A panel featuring mayors of cities in New Jersey will sit down on March 14, 2008 to discuss The Future of the American City with Emmy Award-winning anchor Steve Adubato in an interview to be taped for broadcast on his TV programs, One-on-One with Steve Adubato and Caucus New Jersey. An anchor and broadcaster on both public television and cable, Adubato is an author, commentator, motivational speaker, lecturer and columnist, as well. Please check the University’s DLS Web site, www.wpunj.edu/dls, for details about the panelists.
