WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY STAGES “METAMORPHOSES” FROM MARCH 23 TO 28 IN SHEA CENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS
The Communication Department at William Paterson University in Wayne will present a production of Mary Zimmerman’s “Metamorphoses,” from March 23 to 28 in the Shea Center for Performing Arts on campus.
Based on the work of the Roman poet Ovid, this highly acclaimed play uses both contemporary and ancient language to show how myths transcend time and illuminate the human spirit. A father’s greed changes a girl into a golden statue, an insatiable god's appetite makes him pay a big price, and a spoiled son whines to his therapist about his relationship with his father, the sun god Apollo, as these and other mythological figures personify the good and evil of humanity.
The cast is comprised of William Paterson University students: Dana Cipoletto of Weehawken; Wanda DeCastro of Anchorage, Alaska; Alison Jones of Jersey City; Luke Kurter of New Milford; Steve Landau of Rivervale; Amanda Muench of Fords; Iveliz Negron of Hoboken; Ashley Pettet of Wayne; Dan Salvatore of Wood-Ridge; Eric Sax of Livingston; Dan Scognamiglio of Wood-Ridge; Amanda Schwartz of Moonachie; Robert Sheckner of Wood-Ridge; Carlos Sime of Paterson; and Scott Wylie of Ewing. The production is directed by Jerry Beal, William Paterson University assistant professor of communication.
Show times for “Metamorphoses” are 8 p.m. on March 23, 24, 26, 27 and 28; and March 25 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $10, $7 for students, senior citizens and the William Paterson community. For directions or to purchase tickets, please call the Shea Center Box Office at 973-720-2371.
