William Paterson University Sponsors New Club for Baby Boomers
A new club for people 55 to 65 is currently forming at William Paterson University through the institution’s Center for Continuing and Professional Education. The “Baby Boomers Club,” designed for the young at heart, will meet once a month on Thursdays at 7 p.m. in the University’s building at 1600 Valley Road in Wayne.
The Baby Boomers Club is for people, both retired and still working, who enjoy combining socializing and lifelong learning. Activities planned include trips, seminars, and dining out. Bus trips scheduled to date include a tour of Brooklyn which includes lunch on April 25; a trip to the Lancaster Sight and Sound Millennium Theatre featuring the show “In the Beginning,” on July 25; a United Nations/CNN tour on September 14 with lunch in the U.N. delegates’ dining room; a trip to the Westchester Broadway Theatre to see Yeston and Kopit’s “Phantom," a musical, on October 5. Membership is $40 a year.
This new club joins the Silver Pioneers Club for adults 65 and older, which meets once a month on Mondays to discuss health, current events, legal issues, and other education and cultural topics. A lecture on reverse mortgages is scheduled for Monday, January 22 at 1:00 p.m. at 1600 Valley Road. Admission is free for members; $10 for non-members; Senior citizens also receive a discount on all Continuing and Professional Education programs, including a planned special “Spa Day” on April 24 and May 4.
