Music Department Reaccredited by National Organization
The William Paterson University Department of Music has achieved reaccreditation from the National Association of Schools of Music, a national accrediting organization, for the undergraduate and graduate programs it offers to students who study music.
The commission who visited and studied the University’s music program “voted to continue the institution in good standing.” The accreditation is valid for five years.
"The College of the Arts and Communication is proud of the distinguished
career of its music department, both as a presenter of the performing arts, and as a provider of educational experiences for serious young musicians,” says Stephen Marcone, Interim Dean, College of the Arts and Communication.
The degrees cited include the bachelor of arts in music, the bachelor of music in jazz studies, education, performance, sound engineering, and music with an emphasis on music management. Three graduate programs were also accredited: the master of music in jazz studies, master of music in music education, and a master of music in music management.
The commission commended the institution for “its excellent work in crafting the mission, goals, and objectives of the music unit.”
