The importance of estate planning for closely held and family businesses will be the topic of a breakfast roundtable, “Ten Mistakes You Cannot Afford to Make:  The Dos and Don’ts of Estate Planning for the Closely Held Business Owner,” on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at William Paterson University in Wayne.  The event is conducted by the University’s Center for Closely Held Business.

The seminar will be held in the University’s building at 1600 Valley Road. The cost is $40 per person; .2 CEUS or 2 professional development hours are available for an additional $30. The registration fee includes breakfast.  The program is geared to the privately owned business sector.

*Passing on the family business—who should own it and who should run it
*The tax costs of transferring a business
