Folk Musician Tom Chapin and Friends Perform at William Paterson University on November 16 and 17

Tom Chapin, the contemporary folk and pop artist who entertains audiences of all ages, will perform on November 16 and 17 at Shea Center for Performing Arts at William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J.

Chapin will perform a concert for the general public at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 16. Admission is $16 for adults and $14 for children ages 12 and younger.

On Monday, November 17, there will be a special school performance at 10 a.m. and an after-school performance at 4 p.m. entitled Making Good Noise. Making Good Noise explores different ways of making music, of making “good noise.” The show features music made by familiar instruments and those that are not so familiar, such as the didgeridoo and the kazoo, as well as others you may not think of as instruments at all. Children will learn that everyone can make music, even if it’s simply singing, clapping, and joining in.

America’s favorite family entertainer, Tom Chapin is a gifted singer who charms audiences of all ages. Chapin’s live performances engage the hearts, minds and imaginations of children and adults alike. He has gained widespread critical acclaim for his recordings aimed at children ages 4 to 11 and their families. An American childhood would be incomplete without the music of Tom Chapin.

His family albums have been recognized with awards by the American Library Association, Parents’ Choice, the New York Music Awards, the National Association of Parenting Publications and Parents Magazine. Five of his family recordings have received Grammy nominations for Best Musical Album for Children, including Some Assembly Required, Chapin’s newest family recording.

This musical event is part of William Paterson’s WP Live Vistas Series, designed to serve the University’s students and faculty as well as the surrounding multicultural community. Funding for the Vistas Series at William Paterson University has been made possible, in part, by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.
