William Paterson University to Host Third Annual Comedy Festival on December 12 and 13
William Paterson University’s third annual Comedy Festival will be held on December 12 and 13 on the campus in Wayne, NJ. Both events will be held at 8 p.m. in the Hunziker Black Box Theatre.
Tickets are $12 standard and $8 for the William Paterson community, students, and senior citizens.
A sketch comedy show will be held on Friday, December 12. Students currently enrolled in the University’s sketch comedy course will perform Saturday Night Live-type sketches.
On Saturday, December 13, there will be a stand-up comedy show featuring both current students and alumni of William Paterson’s acclaimed course in comedy writing and performing. Several of the alumni performers are professional stand-up comedians.
For the last six years, William Paterson students have trained as stand-up comics, comedy writers, and actors as part of the theatre and comedy concentration offered as a component of the bachelor’s degree in communication. Each semester, as a final exam, these talented students have delighted packed houses at Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. The festival is sponsored by the University’s Department of Communication.
The event is directed by Stephen Rosenfield, who originated the comedy program at William Paterson and is director of the American Comedy Institute in New York City.
