WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY TO HOLD GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR CONSTRUCTION OF SCIENCE HALL ADDITION AND RENOVATION ON SEPTEMBER 18 AT 2 P.M.
William Paterson University in Wayne will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 2 p.m. to celebrate the beginning of construction on a significant renovation and expansion of the Science Building. The ceremony will be held near the construction site in Caldwell Plaza near the John Victor Machuga Student Center.
The project includes a 65,000-square-foot addition, as well as an upgrade of the 30-year-old existing building. The building will provide students and faculty with state-of-the-art classrooms and research facilities. Newly designed research and laboratory spaces will be configured to support collaboration between faculty and students. The renovation also will include new computer labs, new greenhouses and wireless technology, as well as numerous gathering spaces for students. Work on the project will be conducted in two phases, with completion of the new addition slated for 2010, to be followed by renovation of the existing Science Building by 2012.
The ceremony will include remarks by Vincent Mazzola ‘73, incoming chair of the University’s Board of Trustees; Arnold Speert, president of William Paterson University; Edward Weil, provost and senior vice president for academic affairs; Sandra DeYoung, dean of the College of Science and Health; and Lance Risley, chair and professor of biology.
