CONTEMPORARY FOLK ICON CHRISTINE LAVIN TO PERFORM AT WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY ON APRIL 25
—Concert to feature a special performance by winners of Lavin’s “On the Verge” singer-songwriter talent contest
Singer-songwriter Christine Lavin will perform a full set of her hilarious, insightful, and touching tunes on Friday, April 25 at 8:00 p.m. at Shea Center for Performing Arts at William Paterson University in Wayne, N.J.
The concert will open with a round-robin performance by guest artists who were chosen by Lavin for being “on the verge” of greatness for their singer-songwriter talents. The artists were selected by Lavin from a talent search conducted at William Paterson. They will be coached during an open rehearsal session prior to the performance at 2:00 p.m. in Shea Center.
Lavin is known for her sense of humor and musical insights into the foibles of everyday life. Her most recent CD, Happydance of the Xenophone, includes new, funny, political, and topical selections, including “Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans” and “Tom Cruise Scares Me.”
After Lavin wows the audience with her tunes, the special guests will rejoin her on stage for a special grand finale.
The event is part of William Paterson’s Shea Center Presents Vistas Series, designed to serve the University’s students and faculty, as well as the surrounding multicultural community. Funding for the Vistas Series at William Paterson University has been made possible, in part, by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.
Tickets to the show are $30 for Gold Circle seating; $25 for orchestra; and $20 loge. For more information, call the Shea Center Box Office at 973-720-2371.
