WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY TO PRESENT “THE LOST ELVES,” A MUSICAL FOR CHILDREN, ON DECEMBER 14
—Special performance times for schoolchildren will be held on December 12, 17 and 19
The Lost Elves, a new holiday musical for children presented by the Connecticut Children’s Theatre, will be held on December 12, 14, 17, and 19 at Shea Center for Performing Arts at William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ. The show includes original music, sing-a-longs and audience participation.
The concert for the general public will be held on Sunday, December 14, at 2 p.m. Pre-show activities begin at 1:15 p.m., and there is a post-show session to meet the actors and get their autographs. Parents are invited to bring their cameras. Tickets are $9.
Performance dates for school groups will be held on December 12 at 10 a.m., December 17 at 12:30 p.m., and December 19 at 10 a.m. Teachers will be admitted free with school groups only.
In this musical, a regular holiday concert for children is abruptly interrupted by elves crashing into the side of the theatre. The audience learns that they are lost and must wait for Santa to bring them home. In the meantime, children learn about holiday celebrations from around the world, including Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, through songs and stories. The Lost Elves is a chance for children to embrace their own traditional celebration and learn a little about others.
Since 1991, the Connecticut Children’s Theatre and its New York-based artists have created 33 new musicals for hundreds of thousands of children, each with educator-approved themes for curriculum integration.
This musical event is part of William Paterson’s WP Live Vistas Series, designed to serve the University’s students and faculty as well as the surrounding multicultural community. Funding for the Vistas Series at William Paterson University has been made possible, in part, by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State.
